I've been watching this AskUbuntu thread almost from the beginning. It's also affects the following model: Aspire E5-511_905_V1.08. I was able to stop-gap the problem by defaulting to boot the previous kernel (i.e., 5.4.0-42-generic), but this obviously isn't ideal.
