Didn't fix it.
If anything, 2.6.24-17 made it worse. It froze during startup (as
before), generating interrupts by tapping keys or moving the mouse
didn't seem to make a difference, when I performed a soft reboot by
pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete, my computer could no longer get through the
BIOS stage, probably because of some issue with the hard disk. It now
works fine after a hard reboot and providing the "clocksource=hpet"
command line option. Whether the hard disk thing has anything to do with
the new kernel version, I don't know. But it certainly did not fix the
clocksource issue.
