sorry, I retract that. The problem is that ubuntu updated my kernel without my knowledge,
replacing the correctly patched kernel with the broken one (that both have the same numbers!)
It would be nice if the patch got incorporated into the distro to save me and others from this headache!

I have since noticed that no only is hibernation screwed up by this bug, but also detection of
the power supply and the brightness buttons.
