Bug Description

As per summary, after dist-upgrading a 18.04LTS on the device, the trackpoint and touchpad buttons stopped working.
Booting back with 5.3.0-40 has them working.
Fix this regression pls (and also add support for the microphone)

Update: Just tested 20.04LTS live, and i can reproduce the regression.
For me, the last working kernel is 5.3.0-40.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1875983/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

For me (on 19.10)
kernel 5.3.0-40-generic is the last good version.
kernel 5.3.0-53-generic is the first bad version.

support for trackpoint / multi-touch landed with kernel 5.x in ubuntu.

Would it be possible for you to do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last -rc kernel works and the first -rc kernel doesn’t work from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good $(the working version you found)
$ git bisect bad $(the non-working version found)
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it.
If it still have the same issue,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the offending commit.
