Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic

Hi, I'm having trouble with the wlan card - I don't see the same msgs as others in the logs, but my throughput is really low (about 60-80 kB/s) on a 11 Mbps WEP network. It's a fresh install of Hardy, since I had the same errors in 7.10 (2.6.22 kernel) and the developers worked on fixing this in 2.6.24+.

lsb_release -rd gives:
Description: Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release: 8.04

apt-cache policy linux-image-2.6.24-12 gives:
linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic:

When I try to ping another host/GW/AP I get some duplicates, but only when I try to transfer data over the wlan.

If I have forgotten to include some information, please advice me.

I'm getting 54mbps on my Wireless-G network with the 4965 card in my Thinkpad X61t.

However -- it's not working with Wireless-N networks... which I will either find / register a different bug about.

I also have the same issue: low throughput. I installed the backports modules based on input from Canonical engineer who attended the Austin summit. It has not resolved this problem unfortunately. Please let me know what log files you need.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

The solution mentioned for bug #211094 works for me.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/211094

I set qos_enable=0 and now I have the 4965 performance I should get.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.
