The command below gets the controller working again for me.

echo -n "0000:0a:00.0" | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/unbind
sleep 5
echo -n "0000:0a:00.0" | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/bind
