my touchpad is not working in ubuntu 18.04; however it works fine when I run the diagnostics from the boot menu.

this might be a duplicate of bug 1854798,
can you try to boot with an older kernel to see if this issue still exist?

Thanks for the suggestion. Booted my laptop in the old kernel. Touchpad
seems to work fine.

Hello Pratik,
please try this tool: https://github.com/Cypresslin/alt_my_grub.git

git clone https://github.com/Cypresslin/alt_my_grub.git
cd alt_my_grub
./alt_my_grub

And select the kernel that you want to boot with.

After the newer kernel has been released in the future, you can upgrade your system and run this script with "./alt_my_grub -r" again to restore your current setting.
