We could not find that machine to debug, since this issue happens randomly, we have no idea what introduces this issue.

Could you try the latest mainline kernel to see if it works or not (https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.8-rc4/), if it still could not work, it is better to report this issue to upstream kernel bugzilla (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Drivers), let community help fix this bug, then we will integrate the fix to ubuntu kernel.
