While trying to verify this on other kernels, I found that you can even enable this TER 16x32 font without this patch.
Just change what you mentioned in comment#7
FONTFACE="TER"
FONTSIZE="16x32"
Run "update-initramfs -u" and reboot (or one can use "dpkg-reconfigure console-setup" to choose with Terminus 16x32). I think maybe this is not using the kernel compiled-in fonts.
If that's the case, we need another way to verify this fix.
