On 2nd d780 box my comments are (the MUTE/UNMUTE from panel is new) :-

suspend - it resumed without sound :(only vlc was playing so no ^R) , I had to load `pavucontrol` and toggle the profile off/on to have sound resume.
I paused `vlc` (what I do normally to avoid this issue) and suspended again, resumed & no sound :( i played with various things (not pavucontrol) to try & get sound to resume - got it working with toggling mute/unmute with panel sound control - never used this before....
