I think I just found a solution! I just saw the following bug report over at Redhat (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1597481) and this kernel.org report (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=200455).
The bug seems to be related to recent changes in the module related to the Intel Management Engine: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=257355a44b9929e55d6fd47bfff66971dc4de948
I can confirm that blacklisting the mei_me module seems to resolve the issue for my part!
