In case of Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 5, the issue seems to be with the latest BIOS.
BIOS version 1.20 (N3JUJ13W) is causing the Elan TrackPoint device to stop working after wakeup from S3.
Rolling back to 1.19 (N3JUJ13W) solves the issue.
