thanks for the details on the additional patch. For the follow-up, I guess if it goes into 4.4.y it will end up in our 16.04 kernel, even though we probably would not strictly need it there either. And 18.04, too. But in both cases it could be included with the cve update or not. About the CVE number, *sigh* yes, you are right. I could have sworn I was searching for Spectre.v2 and came up with the other number but now I also end up with CVE-2017-5715.
