Long answer: I can see the icon circling for a while. While this happens I cannot toggle between the boot text output and the circling icon, by using the ESC button. After a while (guess a minute or so), the screen turns black and displays:

Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

Also note that I was not able to find any logs concerning this attempted boot. The kern.log file didn't have a single line concerning this boot attempt.
