Hypervisor: Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 10
Guest: Gen2 Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS fresh install
With any kernel from 4.4.0-21 to 4.4.0-66 everything works fine. Update to 4.4.0-67 - 72 and machines crash with out-of-memory if I make SAVE/RESTORE VM or live migrate it.
Your virtual DVD reference gave me a hint. I removed DVD from the VM and tried SAVE/RESTORE again with a 4.4.0-72 kernel - and it WORKED!!!
