I am also getting this in 17.10 on a Dell Optiplex 9020. It works fine for about 20-30 minutes and then I can't ping the network and all network connected jobs stop responding. It stays that way for 2-5 minutes and then it comes back up. Network status shows connected and never indicates that the network connection itself stopped working. It is driving me batty.
