I built a test kernel after changing KVP_SCRIPTS_PATH to /usr/sbin/hypervkvpd. The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1664663

Can you give that kernel a try? If it resolves the issue, is that the change you want to make instead of moving the scripts to /usr/libexec/hypervkvpd/? I don't believe that directory currently exists.
