Yes, that result is unexpected. So it sounds like v4.9-rc5 without the patches is still bad, but adding the two patches fixes the bug.

I built another -proposed Yakkety test kernel with those two patches. It can be downloaded from:

It may be that 4.9-rc5 has additional commits that are also needed. If this Yakkety test kernel is still bad, I'll review what additional commits are in -rc5.
