Beta version of the DKMS driver for FTE1001 touchpad (written by Brendan McGrath, Victor Vlasenko and Frederik Wenigwieser) is available here: https://github.com/vlasenko/hid-asus-fte-dkms

The driver seems to work well; everyone is welcome to try it out and report any issues to github.
