Can you test the latest 4.4 stable kernel once more:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.14-xenial/

If the bug still exists in the 4.4.14 kernel, we would need to perform a reverse bisect to identify the fix.
