Haven't checked out if this helps wireless as I just have a wired connection on my Dell Inspiron 8200. This did make Firefox work with my connection and allowed me to also connect to my OpenBSD Samba shares. Both of those were inop before the changes. I went through all the ipv6 suggestions without any effect. This worked for me.
sudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf
change the following parameters to 0: (they are already in the list and you only need to change from "1" to "0")
