Carl Englund (englundc) wrote : Updating 14.04.3 to latest updates renders system unbootable

To reproduce (on this hardware)

1) Install 14.04.3 LTS (Ubuntu or XUbuntu)
2) Install updates
3) Reboot

The kernel used after update is 3.19.0-42. Booting with the kernel that came with the install image (3.19.0-25) works fine.

This computer is a HP Compaq 6715s. I have looked at HPs support pages for BIOS updates for this model but none was available.
