From skimming commit logs for the i915 directory in the kernel, it looks like https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=48bf5b2d00bfeb681f6500c626189c7cd2c964d2 might be relevant. I haven't tested yet, though.
