FWIW, when I've complained in the past about endian issues with the radeon drivers on PPC, the upstream response has often been "we know it's broken on big-endian arches, patches welcome, or go buy an nvidia card". So, this may prove to be a lost cause without someone with the time and expertise to dive in.
