I got no suggestions/feedback when posting this question on the netdev-list, but I have done some experimenting with msi disabling for affected devices in order to produce a (preliminary) patch. What I would like to know is if there are other motherboards than the Asus P5N32-SLI Premium which are affected by this. I also would like to know if any of you have the Asus P5N32-SLI motherboard with other, working msi-enabled devices (to find out if this may be a global msi problem or limited to the MCP55-NIC).
You can find out if a device has active msi by doing 'cat /proc/interrupts'. An "IO_APIC" is a pin-signalled device, while
"PCI-MSI" represents msi-enabled devices.
