I'm not really familiar with the ubuntu kernel policy but it appears this bug will be irrelevant with 14.04.2 because it will contain kernel 3.16. This appears to be the new kernel policy:
- New ubuntu release gets a new kernel (14.10 for example)
- Wait a few months and push that new kernel to LTS

So, they may just stall until next kernel upgrade and leave this as it is.
