Ok, on upgrading to 3.2.0-67, the terminal reports:

W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/aic94xx-seq.fw for module aic94xx

I believe this should be the problem.

(If anyone has a comment about the fix, I'd appreciate it.)
