However, I can not tell more about lock ups because of problems with nvidia-settings - no options are showed when I open Nvidia X Serves Settings ( please see attached screenshot or link here - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4795668/Screen.jpg)
It seems like nvidia driver is installed (331, tested) but problem with nvidia settings does not allow me to switch between nvidia/intel and test whether BIOS update helped or not. I didn't have lock ups while working on intel card.
Also tried to install prime-indicator package to switch between cards, but it doesn't seem to work with latest updates in ubuntu 14.04 (tried to uninstall/reinstall - didn't help) - application doesn't load. I have the latest Ubuntu 14.04 updates installed (checked just before comment submission).
Is there any other information I can provide to help with this issue?
Dear Christopher,
Thank you for pointing out outdated BIOS. I upgraded my BIOS to the latest version.
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date output is:
L70 Ver. 01.07
01/10/2014
