I'm using an Acer C720P with Ubuntu Gnome 14.10 (with Gnome updated to 3.14 from PPA) and mainstream kernel 3.18 installed, getting this way touchpad and touchscreen working.

I have been experiencing also a long delay durin boot time, as described here.

After setting:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash tpm_tis.force=1"

the delay is gone, Ubuntu boots normally, both with 3.18 mainstream kernel and Utopic stock kernel 3.16 (with this stock kernel touchpad and touchscreen do not work, I need to use a USB mouse)

I use "quiet" and "splash" on the GRUB line to boot in the "normal" Ubuntu way, without seeing all the kernel boot messages. It's a cosmetic only question.
