I can confirm the problem it also happens on my T440S. The system will appear to go to sleep mode (i.e. the LEDs will start indicating sleep mode). However, it appears to not suspend completely and the system produces a lot of heat while it is in this state which is rather dangerous if you put it in your sleeve and leave it there the system will overheat quickly.

I have updated to the mainline 3.14 kernel and the problem persists.
