There seems to be nothing terrible going wrong leading up to the backtrace. So looks like a new kind of bug. Can you please recompile with lockdep (CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING) enabled and regrab a drm.debug dmesg of the hang? That should list all the other task hogging the mutex and hopefully shed more light onto what's going wrong here.
