I tested on a "nettop" computer model SMT-FOX-NTA3500-BL (a machine that looks very similar to a foxconn-nt-a3500) running Ubuntu 13.10, but i386 not AMD64.
Kernel is 3.11.0-15-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 9 18:16:27 UTC 2013 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux
The machine has 3 USB3 ports and 4 USB2 ports.
Result: bug reproduced on that machine too, the same way.
