This bug was reported upstream[0] and a revert will be done[1]. The revert should land upstream in v3.14. The revert was also cc'd to stable.

I also sent a SRU request to the Ubuntu kernel mailing list to have these commits reverted in Saucy and Trusty while we wait for the fix to come down from upstream.
