Start off with a drm.debug=6 dmesg just so we can get a feel for the hardware and what is going on. If you revert the switchless resume patch, then grab intel_reg_dumper output before and after resume, that will highlight what the bios touched. In fact, if you grab intel_reg_dumper after resume with each patch reverted (none, only switchless patch reverted, both patches reverted) that is likely to have sufficient information to figure out both bugs.
