Yes - I had the Problem also in Raring (13.04) over all Kernel Updates in this Version.
It is still be present in Saucy after the Update last Weekend
No - I have ot the skill to change the Kernel manually - and this is my production machine...
There are also many entrys in the internet that report's this Bug (see google:
"Ubuntu can't load firmware, may not work correctly" regarding with Broadcom) - but there is no solution!
