Problem persists with all kernel versions I am testing from 3.11.0 to 3.12 (namely 3.11.0-12, 3.11.0-13, 3.11.5, 3.11.6, 3.12.0rc5).

Fglrx is now completely purged (libgl1 etc. is freshly reinstalled).
