Running from the menu item
'Install Ubuntu'
and looking behind the curtain' with ctrl + alt + F2 (or the
corresponding key combo emulation in KVM), I see no zram block devices with
swapon -s
How did you activate zRAM or check that it is really running? Or did you
just assume that it is?
