Here with Ubuntu Hardy ,I can confirm the same bug.
although hdparm shows for both my sata hdds are udma6 enabled ,it took 35minutes for me to copy a 10GB dir from one location to another!.

I can compile a kernel myself.just tell me -should I disable newer libata and enable old set of drivers?they seemed to have worked perfect for my hardware :)
