I gave it a short try last week, but failed. After taking a look at the default Ubuntu kernel configuration I found out why:
# CONFIG_IRQSOFF_TRACER is not set

Since I'm currently on vacation and don't have the hardware with me, I'll give it a try next week with the irqsoff-tracer enabled.
