It seems that this bug is fixed in 8.10 Alpha 5 (2.6.27).
I tried coping three times with big files and it didn't fail (because of
the random character it is probably fixed, not sure)

I was not able to test with 2.6.26 because the Alpha 4 iso was removed
of the Ubuntu site.
