The instructions for liveCD customization appear to vary somewhat from Ubuntu 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 with no clear instructions for the 13.04 or 13.10 releases.

Given the complexity of the liveCD customization documentation, I do not trust these instructions for 13.04 or 13.10.

Can our Lexar USB drive access time test be performed in a VirtualBox virtual machine? In that kind of environment, I am confident that all the risks are contained. The challenge is understanding hardware response testing times in a virtual environment.

Could you get your kernel team and VirtualBox team to assess the feasibility of the test I am proposing? It is not obviously valid to test hardware response time in a virtual environment.

Failing that, could you get one of your liveCD customization experts to build that liveDVD with kernel 3.11.0-031100rc4 for the kernel team?
