Sorry, regarding my last comment, the last sentence of the quoted text is not accurate for me, as I explained later in the comment.

Also, should I gather more info? Using "apport-bug --save /tmp/foo.apport" from a new tty while the X system is frozen? Or restart it and then invoke apport-bug?
