Bug Description

My Netgear USB wifi A6200 does not work in 12.10. It si not being recognized by the system the stick is IEEE 802.11ac (backwards a/b/g/n) compatible. It comes with Windows driver but this driver cannot seem to be installed with Wine. with PlayonLinux Windows driver installs but USB stick not receognized.

Filed this report on my HP-Mini netbook, but was told to file it again from this computer HP-7100 (8GB RAM/2X1TB HD/i7 processor at 2.4MHz). Received no helpful answer on problem on netbook and finally support stopped responding.

1) The release of Ubuntu: 12.10
2) The version of the package: 3.6.0 (Ubuntu 2012-10-04), 3.5.0-18-generic (#29-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 19 10:27:31 UTC 2012)
3) What you expected to happen: USB wifi stick to be recognized and to connect to wifi internet network as all my other applicances do.
4) What happened instead: USB stick not recognized and driver does not seem to function.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1074601/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. Please only remove that one tag and leave the other tags. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
