v3.8.0-cr6 test results: Total tests 20. Pass 2, Fail 18
It is not clear to me if the 2 passes are statistically significant, but they are the reason I did the test 20 times rather than 10. So, it seems that the 2 passes out of a total of 20 tests represent no real improvement. I am recording this as a 'fail' in the tags.
