Bug Description
On a Thinkpad T61, it isn't possible to log in with Quantal. When Unity comes up, dmesg fills up with INVALID_OPCODE errors and the session hangs.

The quantal beta 1 live cd also fails to boot on this laptop, screen comes up in a garbled checkerboard pattern, and dmesg is full of "PFIFO_CACHE_ERROR" messages.
