HOWEVER, today's kernel upgrade:

DOES NOT HAVE the bug and the unifying receiver works right from the start. I did comment out the workaround (#55), and I can confirm hat the new kernel update seems to have fixed the issue altogether.

Anybody else can confirm the same?
