Christopher, no, making the assumption that something may be "fixed" by a BIOS update, which contains no documentation relevant to the issue, is exactly that; an assumption. There is no evidence that suggests a BIOS update would fix something that is not documented in the release notes for the update.

This is a bug report against the Linux kernel, not against the Intel MQ77 BIOS. There is no reason to assume it is a problem with the BIOS. The bug has existed for well over a year now, and assuming that it is going to be magically fixed with a BIOS update is nonsense. The history of the report clearly shows it has been accepted as a valid bug report by upstream (whom as I already stated, is an Intel device driver developer, working for Intel), against the kernel.

I am not going to waste time trying to update to a new BIOS and performing the tedious procedure of testing the issue, when there is absolutely zero evidence that it could have any impact on the issue at all.
