Yes, this fixes the "no boot" problem. I let it go longer as Joachim suggested. It did indeed go further, but only to "loading manual modules" then no further.

As xtknight points out, there is another bug involved, that with the nvidia module. I can confirm xtknight's report that the nvidia module will no longer load. But this is a separate bug, and probably related to linux-restricted-modules or nvidia-glx-new.

xtknight, if you don't open the new bug, then I will later when I return home. I'll search your bug reports later to see if it's in.
