linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 (2.6.24-16.23) won't solve the non boot situation.
I am running AMD64 with Gigabyte nforce430
Previous kernel (2.6.22) works as well.
As far as I can see if live-initramfs is installed, system will boot and kernel 2.6.24 loads pata_amd (where 2.6.22 loads ata_generic modules). Booting with live-initramfs results to a system 10 times slower than the one with the previous kernel.
I upgraded from 7.10 where everything was running fine.
I confirm this.

Maybe the status of this bug should change ?
