I can confirm this bug, however, following the suggestion to modify the udev rules resulted in a DIFFERENT 3rd networking device.
On my Vaio VGN C240E (intel 3945 wireless), iwconfig displays the following; ----------- lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wifi0 unassociated ESSID:off/any Mode:Monitor
rtap0 no wireless extensions.

Please note I have never seen this "rtap0" before modifying the udev rules. My wireless is still not working, and i'm about to revert the udev file.
